Jon GreeneJon Greene

Jon Greene has over 30 years of progressive experience in research, development, operation, modernization, and maintenance of complex technical systems. He has a proven record of bottom line results, empowering leadership, and technical expertise and holds an Active Secret clearance.  His specialties include business development, program management, strategic planning, and profit/loss center management.

Jon currently serves with the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science at Virginia Tech as the Associate Director for Strategic Planning and Development; he also has positions as the National Security Research Thrust Leader, the Technical Director of the Center for Naval Systems and the Interim Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership.  In this complex academic environment, he helps develop DoD research opportunities, builds interdisciplinary research teams, develops business practices and serves as the "impedance matching network between the DoD and university cultures.

In his role as an Affiliated Consultant with TechOpp Consulting, Jon provides strategic business development support for DoD-related technologies.

Jon served in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 2009 where his last post was as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dam Neck, VA. Here, he was the CEO of a $120 million R&D facility operating on a profit/loss model where he developed and provided life-cycle support for system of systems solutions for command and control and integrated training capabilities for maritime, joint, and coalition forces.

Greene and his wife, Elise, have four daughters.   He enjoys golf, running, fishing, puttering in his garden, and spending time with his family.
